A fun and silly picture book about a mutant potato named Rot who enters a beauty pageant and must overcome the doubts of the other contestants (a baby bunny, cuddly kitten, and jolly jellyfish) as well as his own. An appealingly strange book and character worth rooting for, especially because of the book’s themes of self-acceptance and courage.
